The First Spendable Coins

Block 1 was mined on January 9, 2009, six days after the Genesis Block. This block contains the first Bitcoin transaction that created spendable coins. The 50 BTC reward from this block is the first-ever mining reward that could theoretically be spent.

The Six-Day Mystery

Why did Satoshi wait six days between Block 0 and Block 1? Several theories exist: he may have been waiting for other participants to join the network, testing the software, or deliberately creating a gap to distinguish the Genesis Block as symbolic. The true reason remains unknown.
